Why elect Debbie Donovan-Race #2?

I have a deep conviction for the work the Boise School District does to prepare ALL students to meet the challenges they will face in the future.

I am committed to supporting the work the school district has done to provide welcoming and safe learning environments for ALL students to prepare them to meet the challenges they will face in the future. I appreciate the important role our teachers and staff play in providing support for our students to access all learning opportunities which provide them hope for their future.

Developing connections and engaging with stakeholders, including student voices has always been a strength of mine.  This includes taking the time to actively LISTEN to all, treat everyone respectfully and value their input.  This was a skill that served me well as a teacher, principal and a district administrator.

I am dedicated to continue to give back to this incredible school district by serving the community and school district as a trustee.  I realize the importance of the Board of Trustees in supporting the efforts that are happening in the schools. However, this can not be done without the support of a thriving community which we are all part of.  The board greatly appreciates the work our community does to support and promote the Boise School District.

In a joint announcement, incumbents Paul Bennion, Debbie Donovan, Maria Greeley and Elizabeth Langley said they will run for election this summer. “As trustees we’ve aspired to lead the conversation on many of the challenges facing Boise’s families and students,” the trustees said in a joint statement. “Our classrooms today must be highly flexible, inclusive and welcoming while keeping our focus on delivering challenging opportunities for every child to learn and grow.”

“Donovan said she’s a good listener with a “wealth of public school knowledge,” and she looks forward to weighing issues from the school board, rather than trying to bring them to the table as an administrator.  “It’ll be a nice seat to be in,” she said. “I have the time to do the research and to read the materials that are presented…and then ask questions.”

“Throughout my career, in my various roles, reaching those students who struggle academically or emotionally in our schools continues to be my greatest personal and professional accomplishment,”
